Abrasive Wheels

Course Content:

The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2016 (General Application) Regulations 2016 (SI 36/2016) the Regulations apply to the use of any abrasive wheel for grinding or cutting at a place of work.

The Regulations deal with the use of abrasive wheels. Speed of revolution, mounting of the abrasive wheels and guarding and rests for workplaces and flanges.

Schedule 14 deals with training and instruction and requires that any person required to use any work equipment that presents a significant risk to the user, must be trained in its use and that the training covers not only the use but also any hazards arising from the use and the precautions to be observed. It is not adequate to assume that because a person has a qualification in a trade, that they are competent with all tools related to that trade. This is especially true of power tools. With this in mind, this training takes a generic approach to training with abrasive wheels and enable the person to be aware of the hazards and precautions.

Abrasive Wheels Course Content:

1. Health & Safety Legislation
2. Identify the hazards associated working with Abrasive Wheels
3. Evaluate the causes of Abrasive Wheels accidents
4. Selecting & mounting
5. Guarding of the grinding / cutting machines
6. Dressing & turning the wheel
7. PPE

Certification

Successful completion candidates will be awarded an Eden Safety Services Ltd certificate valid for 3 years

The course can accommodate a maximum of 10 students.

 
Abrasive Wheel training can be conducted on site at your premises or at our training venue
Venue Requirements:
Room suitable to seat 10 people comfortably (with tables /desks if possible)
White wall or projector screen.
